Other than my home baking, there haven't been any food experiences to describe around here lately.
And yes, my bread is quite ugly.
IrelandEats.com is supposed to be a blog that explores the Irish food scene including restaurants, food trucks, farmers markets, fishmongers and the gamut of food experiences that make eating in Ireland exciting. It is meant to be an inspiration and a guide for tourists and Irish food lovers.
But we have been shuttered the past few months due to the Covid-19 lockdown. Staying home, as ordered, but, with restaurants and pubs closed and shopping limited, there aren't many food experiences to write about anyway.
And as for tourists--well they have disappeared. I haven't seen a Paddy Wagon bus in months. We locals are warned not to venture farther than 5 kilometers from home except for grocery runs. And the garda are actually stopping cars and asking where you're going. The good news is that the virus is in retreat.
Tomorrow, June 8, Ireland enters the second phase of its lockdown exit and our range will be increased to 20 kilometers. June 29 will mark the third phase when restaurants begin to open. What a joy it will be to sit down somewhere and have a pint and a plate!
We look forward to serving you again soon!
